Its kinda worth it. They teach you (or the dog) sit, paw, roll over, bang bang your dead, stay, leave it, come here. And a few others. It was fun.

At what age should you take your new puppy to obedience classes?

Question by Question_ Person90: At what age should you take your new puppy to obedience classes?
What is an appropriate age to take your puppy to puppy classes? When I get it, she will be 2 months. And, what Obedience Class would you recommend?

Best answer:

Answer by Loki ? Wolfchild
Most Puppy Kindergarten classes are open to puppies from 8 weeks old to 4 months old. You might want to wait until she’s had a least 2-3 sets of vaccinations.

I would certainly recommend a Puppy K class – excellent socialization for the puppy, as well as basic obedience, and dealing with puppy-specific problems (housebreaking, nipping/biting, etc.). Most local kennel clubs or dog training clubs offer these classes.

Obedience Classes?

Question by Brittney: Obedience Classes?
I feel the need to take my dog to some obedience classes, but I feel that if I do shes going to be the angry aggressive dog that annoys everyone. I just want to help her out, and get her out into the world and be confident. To those of you that have been to the classes, are a lot of the dogs aggressive towards the other dogs??

Not often, but there are usually some. But the teacher will keep this well under control and separate the timid from the bold.

Classes will socialize your dog and teach her how to behave in public.

It is rare, unless you have loads of time to take her out and about in all environments for a dog to be adequately socialized in a home environment.

A trained dog makes a wonderful companion animal and less of a problem to the world at large.
